EUROPEAN UNION HERITAGE AWARD 2916: GRAND PRIX FOR THE CONSERVATION STUDY OF VILLAGE GOSTUŠA IN PIROT DISTRICT

Madrid, 24 May 2016 – Projects awarded with the prestigious European Union and Europa Nostra Heritage Award 2016, the most prestigious European award in the field of heritage, celebrate their achievements tonight in Zarzuela theater in Madrid, Maestro Placido Domingo, President of Europa Nostra, the leading organization in the field of heritage in Europe, and Tibor Navračić, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, hosted the ceremony of the 28th European awards for heritage and among 28 awarded projects and 7 special awards, Grand Prix, one Audience Award was given as well.

Among the 7 Grand Prix prizes, selected by an independent expert jury and worth 10,000 euros each, are:

Traditional water mill at Agios Germanos, Prespes, Greece
King’s Little Trail in El Coro Canyon, Malaga, Spain
Gothic tower at Wimpole Hall, Cambridgeshire, UK
RESEARCH CATEGORY
Conservation study of Gostuša village near Pirot, Serbia
CATEGORY DEDICATED SERVICE
Employees and activists of the National Museum, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Mrs. Giulia Maria Crespi, Milan, Italy
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND AWARENESS RAISING CATEGORY
‘Adopt the Monument’, Tampere, Finland
