A Decade of Commitment to Cultural Heritage: The Foundation’s Jubilee in Pirot

Pirot, Maj 02, 2026, jubilee, publication promotion and Special Recognition Award.

A Vision That Endures: 10 Years of Impact

Established on Feb 02, 2016, the Foundation was created to permanently preserve the legacy of the renowned architect-conservator Aleksandar Radović. Managing Director Elena Vasić Petrović highlighted that Radović’s dedication, woven into nearly every cultural monument in Southern Serbia, remains the primary inspiration for the Foundation’s summer camps, workshops, and research initiatives that have been recognized and awarded across Europe.

Special Recognition for Časlav Colić

The centerpiece of the evening was the presentation of the Foundation’s Special Recognition Award, which was presented this year to Časlav Colić, the only living professional fresco copyist in Serbia. This award, established in 2023 for exceptional individuals, honored a master whose lifetime work includes over 100 square meters of fresco copies—an invaluable documentary treasure.

New Publication and Certificates of Appreciation

To mark the jubilee, the Foundation premiered its sixth publication, “Small Buildings of Great Architecture – Challenges of Sacral Cultural Heritage Conservation,” authored by Elena Vasić Petrović. Alongside the author, architect Sima Gušić and reviewer Miomir Stojanović spoke about the book, emphasizing the importance of protecting the hidden gems of our sacral architecture.

The Foundation also presented certificates of appreciation to numerous long-term partners and collaborators.

Atmosphere and Outlook

Following the formal program, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception with a musical performance by Mladen Marinković. Attendees also viewed the premiere screenings of the short films “Friends of the Foundation” and “10 Years,” which chronicled the organization’s evolution. The jubilee in Pirot was not just a celebration of the past, but a clear signal that the mission of protecting Balkan cultural identity is in capable hands.
